An Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) originally from Cotabato City has reported experiencing abuse at the hands of her employer in Saudi Arabia.

The OFW, identified only as “Sam,” is a seasoned migrant worker who has been deployed to Saudi Arabia four times in the past.

In an interview with Bombo Radyo Koronadal, Sam revealed that she has suffered maltreatment while working in her employer’s household.

She claimed that she was not provided with a proper sleeping area, as she was forced to sleep in the kitchen and was deprived of sufficient food.

According to Sam, her employer allegedly restricted her meals to cut costs, leaving her hungry and neglected.

She further stated that she was not shown her employment contract and was unexpectedly tasked with caring for a couple and their six children without clear work hours or job conditions.

Despite reporting the issue to her recruitment agency, Sam said the agency merely questioned her complaint and insisted that she finish the remaining three months of her contract.

She added that the agency has taken no concrete action so far and even accused her of lying.

Sam is now appealing to authorities, particularly the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), for immediate assistance so she can return home to the Philippines.

Authorities are currently monitoring the situation while awaiting further action from the concerned agencies.
