Nueva Vizcaya has been officially recognized as the Ginger Capital of the Philippines, following the issuance of Administrative Order No. 8, Series of 2025 by Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel.
According to Department of Agriculture Regional Executive Director Rose Mary Aquino, this declaration confirms Nueva Vizcaya as the country’s top producer of ginger, supplying not only local markets but also major distribution hubs such as Metro Manila.
The recognition is expected to further encourage farmers in the province to expand their plantations and improve the quality of their ginger crops.
Last year, the Department of Agriculture reported that Nueva Vizcaya produced a total output of 7,140.76 metric tons of ginger, solidifying its position as a leading agricultural contributor in the country.
With this official status, local agriculture officials hope to attract more investment and support for ginger production and enhance the livelihoods of farmers in the province.
