NSA Año defends NTF-ELCAC, asserting there is no reason to abolish the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict, given its major achievements in 2025.
National Security Adviser Eduardo Año emphasized that rather than disbanding the task force, it should be further supported for its role in the government’s successful anti-insurgency campaign and the suppression of local communist terrorist groups.
Año highlighted the accomplishments of the Barangay Development Program (BDP), the task force’s flagship initiative, which has reached remote villages previously influenced by rebels.
He said the task force has improved conditions in these communities and laid the groundwork for sustained economic growth.
The NTF-ELCAC has also worked closely with Local Amnesty Boards, encouraging many rebels to surrender and reintegrate into society.
According to Año, former insurgents are now able to reunite with their families, rebuild their lives, and contribute to stronger, more peaceful communities.
He stressed that the task force serves as a crucial link between the government and former rebels, while protecting vulnerable areas from renewed insurgent influence.
