Negros Occidental – Ceejay Faala, a 3rd-year college student from Barangay Bagroy, Binalbagan, Negros Occidental, has invented the “Pencroscope,” a compact, pen-sized digital microscope.

A Bachelor of Secondary Education major in Science at Carlos Hilado Memorial State University (CHMSU), Faala created the device out of boredom during a school break in August.

Using recycled materials from scrapped electrical devices, he designed the microscope in just one day, making it more affordable than typical microscopes.

The Pencroscope can connect to smartphones and TVs via Wi-Fi, allowing users to share microscopic images on a larger screen. The device is also rechargeable.

Faala expressed gratitude to CHMSU and 5th District Congressman Dino Yulo for assisting in the patenting process. He encourages others to embrace curiosity and believe in their ability to contribute to the world.
