Motorcyclist Dies After Collision with Trailer Truck

A motorcyclist lost his life after a collision with a trailer truck along the national highway in Barangay Bannuar, San Juan, Ilocos Sur, at 6:40 PM on January 27, 2025.

The victim, identified as Edwin Tanuno Peneyra, 49, was a farmer and a resident of Barangay Cacandongan, San Juan. He was wearing a helmet but was not using a reflectorized vest at the time of the accident.

The trailer truck driver was identified as Aries Visaya Aquino, 42, married, and a resident of Barangay Bacarda, Ilocos Norte.

Both vehicles were traveling in the same direction when the trailer truck attempted to overtake the motorcycle on the shoulder of the highway.

The motorcycle reportedly lost control, causing the rider to fall, and the truck unintentionally ran over him, continuing southward.

Peneyra sustained severe head injuries and was rushed to Magsingal District Hospital by personnel from the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office of San Juan.

However, the attending physician, Dr. Siena Tabarrejo, declared him dead on arrival.

Authorities immediately informed nearby police stations, leading members of the Santa Municipal Police Station to locate the trailer truck and conduct further investigations.
