Motorcyclist Dies After Collision with Dump Truck

A motorcyclist was killed after being hit by a dump truck in Barangay 29 Pasngal, Bacarra, Ilocos Norte.

The victim was identified as 32-year-old Honeylyn Gaspar Sevilleja, a resident of Barangay Ulayos, Catucdan, Cabugao, Ilocos Sur. She was driving a white Mio I 125 motorcycle at the time of the accident.

The driver of the dump truck, also white, was identified as 39-year-old Erwin De la Cruz Mata, a resident of Barangay Manayon, Bangui, Ilocos Norte.

According to P/Lt. Wilson Sahagun, Deputy Chief of Police at Bacarra Municipal Police Station, both vehicles were heading southbound when the dump truck attempted to overtake the motorcycle, resulting in the collision.

The motorcyclist sustained severe head injuries, while the dump truck driver was unharmed.

The victim was rushed to Bacarra Medical Hospital but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician, Dr. Marianne Shem Caraang.

As of this writing, neither party involved in the accident has issued a statement regarding the incident. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the matter.
