Police confirmed that neither of the victims had any criminal record in the locality, but Pil had been involved in a shooting incident in 2019 where he was a force multiplier in Cebu City.

It is unclear if the 2019 incident is connected to the recent attack, as Balamban police chief did not disclose any further information.

Authorities are continuing their investigation and coordinating with Asturias police.

The police are also reviewing CCTV footage and examining the victims’ cellphones for clues.
