Motorcycle Racer Dies in Crash During Ilocos Sur Festival 2025

A motorcycle racer dies in a crash at the Ilocos Sur Festival 2025 Motor Racing Open 2T category held at the diversion road in Barangay Paratong, Sta. Catalina, Ilocos Sur.

The rider was identified as Richmond Frial Pablico, a 22-year-old student from Barangay Balaleng Amianance, Bantay, who was driving a modular drug bike.

According to PLt. Marlon Martinez of the Sta. Catalina Municipal Police Station, the motorcycle was heading west on the racetrack when the rider lost control, resulting in the fatal accident.

Martinez confirmed that Pablico suffered multiple fractures and head injuries before being rushed by Rural Health Unit personnel to Ilocos Sur Provincial Hospital – Gabriela Silang, where he was declared dead on arrival.

Authorities are conducting an investigation to determine if other factors contributed to the accident.

It was also discovered that Pablico only had a student permit at the time of the crash.

Following the incident, race organizers immediately canceled the motor racing event.
