The Ministry of Basic, Higher, and Technical Education (MBHTE) of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) has denied allegations of irregular transactions within its agency, particularly the reported P1.7 billion procurement deal allegedly completed in a single day.

In an official statement, MBHTE Minister Mohagher M. Iqbal refuted claims that procurement processes, including purchases of Learners’ Kits and Teachers’ Kits, were bypassed.

Iqbal emphasized that MBHTE strictly adheres to Republic Act No. 9184, the Government Procurement Reform Act, along with regulations set by the Commission on Audit (COA).

The statement was issued following online allegations that educational materials meant for teachers and students were being sold directly to educators, an issue MBHTE labeled as “serious and highly concerning.”

The agency also denied accusations of relatives or influential individuals interfering in MBHTE’s procurement process or programs.

Iqbal affirmed that no official’s family member or any unauthorized individual can intervene in decisions that follow proper procedures and planning.

Despite the controversy, Iqbal assured the public that MBHTE remains committed to delivering quality, inclusive, and accountable education for Bangsamoro residents.

MBHTE urged the public and the media to verify information through the appropriate agencies before spreading speculation or misinformation.
