The ‘kangaroo court’ statement made by former Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque against the House of Representatives’ Quad Committee was not left unanswered by Manila Congressman Benny Abante.
According to Abante, the public is well aware of the issues being tackled by the committee, which is why a series of hearings are being conducted.
He emphasized that the committee had even shown leniency towards Roque, despite two consecutive contempt orders issued against him.
The lawmaker cited the first contempt order on Roque, which was reduced to just one day (24 hours), even though other lawmakers preferred a longer penalty.
Abante noted that Roque had complained about the decision of the congressmen.
It can be recalled that despite multiple invitations from the House, Roque failed to attend the last hearing of the Quad Committee.
Abante added that Roque’s absence from the hearing was seen as an insult to the House of Representatives, an institution with the authority to investigate societal issues.
