Manhunt Underway for Security guard wanted for allegedly shooting laborer over wife’s chat messages

Authorities are continuing their search for a security guard suspected of fatally shooting a laborer in Sitio Ilawod, Brgy. Poblacion, Barotac Viejo, Iloilo.

The victim was identified as alias Rodel, 36, a resident of Sitio Sambag, Brgy. Nueva Sevilla, Barotac Viejo.

The suspect is alias Tre-ar, 31, a resident of Sitio Ilawod, Brgy. Poblacion in the same town.

In an interview with Bombo Radyo, Police Lieutenant Rene Aguinaga, Deputy Cop of the Barotac Viejo Municipal Police Station, stated that the suspect remains at large despite ongoing follow-up operations in neighboring towns where the suspect may be hiding.

Aguinaga appealed to the suspect’s family to convince alias Tre-ar to surrender to the police and face the consequences of his actions.

According to authorities, the suspect fled with the gun he used to shoot the victim, as well as his wife’s cellphone.

They also stated that according to the investigation, the suspect caught his wife chatting with the victim.

Because of this, he used his wife’s cellphone and chatted with the man to lure him to their house.

When the victim arrived, he was met by the suspect and shot in the right side of his head with a 12-gauge long-barrel shotgun.

The victim was immediately taken to Gov. Niel D. Tupas Sr. District Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
