Man Arrested Over “Rentangay” Scam After Girlfriend’s Tip-Off

A man allegedly involved in a “rentangay” scam was arrested in Las Piñas City after being reported to the police by his own girlfriend.

According to reports, the suspect, identified only as “Lawrence,” was apprehended by police while on his way to meet his girlfriend.

He initially resisted arrest but was eventually taken into custody by the Philippine National Police-Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG) and brought to Camp Crame.

The suspect now faces multiple charges, including carnapping, illegal possession of firearms, and violation of the Anti-Fencing Law.

Police allege that Lawrence would rent vehicles and then fail to return them, a key tactic in the so-called rentangay scam.

Authorities are urging other potential victims to come forward and file complaints to strengthen the case against the suspect.

In a surprising twist, Lawrence expressed disbelief that his girlfriend reported him and admitted to using illegal drugs.

He also appealed to his victims to drop the charges, claiming he is willing to return the motorcycles if they agree to a settlement.
