Mahigit 400 areas of concern, binabantayan na rin ng AFP

Binabantayan na rin ng Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) ang mahigit 400 lugar sa buong bansa na unang tinukoy ng Commission on Elections bilang mga ‘areas of concern’.

Ayon kay AFP Spokesperson, Colonel Francel Margareth Padilla, nagsimula nang tumulong ang mga sundalong nasa ground sa mga local police na pangunahing nagbabantay sa bawat lugar.

Mayroon aniyang 18,000 sundalo ang handang umalalay sa Pulisya at Comelec para matiyak ang maayos at ligtas na halalan sa Mayo.

Nakahanda rin ang AFP na magdagdag ng pwersa sa ilang mga lugar na mangangailangan pa ng karagdagang security forces dahil sa matitinding tunggalian o awayan sa pulitika.

Batay sa datus na inilabas ng Comelec, aabot sa 49 na lugar mula sa Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao ang nasa ilalim ngayon sa yellow category.

Mayroon ding 53 lugar mula sa Region 8,9,10,12, CAR at CARAGA ang nasa orange category.

Sa ilalim ng red category, mayroong 38 na lugar na binabantayan dito mula sa Region 2,5,6,8 at BARMM.

Ilan sa naging basehan ng Comelec sa ginawang deklarasyon ay ang kasaysayan ng karahasan sa mga nakalipas na halalan, tumitinding away sa pagitan ng mga magkakalabang kandidato, atbpa.
