Leak of Private Conversations Between Anthony Jennings and Maris Racal May Lead to Cyber Libel Case

Dagupan City – Jam Villanueva faces possible cyber libel charges after leaking private conversations between her ex-boyfriend Anthony Jennings and actress Maris Racal.

Legal consultant Atty. Francis Dominic Abril noted that the leaked chats damaged the reputations of both personalities, leading to endorsement withdrawals.

The damages incurred could exceed ₱1 million, and cyber libel under the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012 imposes harsher penalties, including up to six years imprisonment and no bail.

The leaked screenshots, shared by Villanueva on social media, painted Jennings and Racal as victims of privacy invasion.

Villanueva could argue psychological violence, particularly against Jennings, as her defense in the event of legal action.

Atty. Abril advised resolving such issues privately to prevent legal repercussions and preserve the reputations of all parties involved.
