Joint Police-Military Operation Nabs NPA Leaders in Northern Luzon

Three high-ranking officials of the New People’s Army (NPA) were arrested by authorities in Barangay Manag, Conner, Apayao, on October 8, 2024.

The operation was conducted by the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Philippine Army after the 503rd Infantry Brigade received information from a concerned citizen about the presence of armed NPA members in the area.

While patrolling, authorities intercepted the three individuals, who were confirmed to be senior officials of the Regional Guerrilla Unit/Regional Operations Command (RGU/ROC) of the Ilocos-Cordillera Regional Committee (ICRC), a notorious NPA faction operating in Northern Luzon.

The arrested individuals were identified as Alias Sam, Commanding Officer of the Regional Sentro De Grabidad (RSDG) of the ICRC; Alias Tanya, Political Instructor; and Alias Annie, Organizer and Head of Education for Guerilla Front, KLG Baggas.

Authorities confiscated two M16A1 rifles, grenades, explosives, and personal belongings from the suspects.

The arrested individuals are now in the custody of authorities for further investigation and appropriate disposition.
