Jed Mabilog Denies Clemency Offer Linked to 2025 Mayoral Bid Withdrawal

Former Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog directly addressed rumors that he was offered executive clemency in exchange for not running in the 2025 mayoral race.

In an interview with Bombo Radyo Iloilo, Mabilog stated that his legal team is doing everything to ensure that he can run again.

When asked if he would seek executive clemency from President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., Mabilog confirmed that his lawyers are working to resolve the issue, especially since he has been granted political asylum.

Mabilog is currently barred from running for any local elective office due to a dismissal order issued by the Ombudsman, which includes the accessory penalty of perpetual disqualification from holding public office.

This stemmed from a 2015 case filed by former Iloilo City Councilor Plaridel Nava II and former Iloilo Provincial Administrator Manuel Mejorada, accusing Mabilog of grave misconduct, dishonesty, and conduct prejudicial to the best interest of the service.

The case involved the awarding of a contract to 3L Towing Services by the Iloilo City government without undergoing public bidding.
