SEATTLE — A Japan Airlines aircraft clipped the tail of a Delta Air Lines plane while taxiing at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport on Wednesday morning, prompting a temporary halt to some flights, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reported.
The incident occurred around 10:40 a.m. local time when the right wing of a Japan Airlines Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, arriving from Tokyo, struck a stationary Delta Boeing 737-800.
The Delta plane, carrying 142 passengers, was waiting for deicing ahead of its scheduled departure to Puerto Vallarta.
No injuries were reported, and Delta assured passengers they would be transferred to another aircraft. The airline also stated it would cooperate with the FAA and other authorities in investigating the incident.
The FAA confirmed it will conduct a full review of the collision.
