What was meant to be a joyful journey to a new life in London ended in tragedy for Dr. Pratik Joshi and his family. A doctor who had been living in London for the past six years, Dr. Joshi had long dreamed of bringing his wife and three children from India to join him and start a better life in the UK.

After years of planning and preparation, their long-awaited move was finally set to happen. Just two days before the flight, his wife, Dr. Komi Vyas, resigned from her job in India to make the big move with the whole family.

But the family never made it to their destination. On Thursday, June 12, they were among more than 240 people killed when a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner (Air India flight AI-171) crashed shortly after taking off from Ahmedabad en route to London.

Relatives shared that the family had even sent a photo shortly before the tragic flight.

Authorities called the crash the world’s deadliest aviation disaster in ten years.

The sole survivor, a British national of Indian origin, is currently being treated in hospital.
