MANILA — The Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) announced on Tuesday that it will request the Office of the Ombudsman to investigate former Public Works Secretary Manuel Bonoan over a controversial flood control project in Plaridel, Bulacan.

ICI chairperson Andres Reyes said that Bonoan, along with former Undersecretary Cathy Cabral, will be examined for possible violations of the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials.

Bonoan resigned in August amid controversies surrounding several anomalous flood control projects under the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

He was succeeded by Vince Dizon, who pledged to reform the agency and tackle corruption.
