Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) Chairman and retired Supreme Court Justice Andres Reyes Jr. has refuted allegations by former Ilocos Sur Governor Chavit Singson that the commission avoids inspecting flood control projects in Ilocos Norte, known as the Marcos family’s political stronghold.

Singson earlier criticized the commission, claiming it deliberately bypassed Ilocos Norte despite its proximity to other project sites.

Reyes responded that the commission intends to visit all provinces and conduct impartial inspections.

The ICI chief explained that the independent body does not choose which projects to investigate, emphasizing its mandate to expose infrastructure projects with corruption issues or anomalies.

He assured that all public infrastructure projects will undergo fair scrutiny regardless of political affiliations or regional strongholds.

Singson also accused Reyes of allegedly preventing invited resource persons from naming individuals or disclosing sensitive information, a claim that Reyes firmly denied.
