A 38-year-old Japanese man was taken into custody for secretly calling his wife more than 100 times a day without providing any explanation.

The woman, a resident of Amagasaki, Japan, filed a police report against her husband, alleging that he was anonymously calling her over 100 times a day until she hung up.

The 31-year-old woman first began getting weird phone calls from someone who appeared to be an unfamiliar caller. The caller didn’t say anything else until she lost patience and hung up.

This repeated for a few weeks. She could not block the calls as they always originated from an unknown number.

She received dozens of calls most days, but occasionally she received more than 100 calls in one day.

But one evening, while using her husband’s phone to play video games, she discovered that her phone never rang when she was with him.

She confessed her suspicions to the police, who later collected proof and took her husband into custody.

The man claimed that his repeated silent phone calls to his wife were a way of showing his love for her, despite her feeling harassed by his behavior for over a month.

In Japan, it’s not unusual for married couples to live apart, particularly if one of them has moved for work. Occasionally, one of the partners feels so jealous that they begin to stalk the other.

Nonetheless, Amagasaki police have verified that this was the first instance of phone stalking between a couple being together.##
