The House of Representatives is set to launch an investigation into alleged irregularities involving PrimeWater Infrastructure Corporation.

Zambales Representative Jay Khonghun filed House Resolution 22, urging the chamber to look into complaints surrounding the Joint Venture Agreements (JVAs) between local water districts and PrimeWater.

Khonghun emphasized that water is a basic necessity and not merely a business, underscoring the need for stricter regulation of JVAs to ensure the public receives proper service.

He clarified that the investigation is not politically motivated, describing it as a local issue that has long been a concern among constituents.

Lawmakers hope the inquiry, conducted in aid of legislation, will uncover why PrimeWater allegedly failed to fulfill its obligations under the agreements.

The investigation also aims to identify potential laws that need to be passed or amended to prevent similar issues in the future.

Despite ongoing reviews by the Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA) and the Office of the President, legislators see no conflict in pursuing their own probe.
