THE House of Representatives has gathered enough signatures to push forward with a fourth impeachment complaint against Vice President Sara Duterte, House Secretary General Reginald Velasco confirmed on Wednesday.

Velasco announced that at least 215 lawmakers had signed the complaint, exceeding the required threshold of 102 signatures—equivalent to one-third of the House membership—allowing the case to be transmitted to the Senate for trial. He added that the process would be formalized in the plenary session.

The impeachment effort comes as Duterte, daughter of former President Rodrigo Duterte, faces increasing criticism from opposition groups over alleged misuse of confidential funds.

Akbayan party-list Rep. Perci Cendaña, who endorsed the first impeachment complaint, described the move as a significant step toward dismantling the Duterte family’s political dominance.

“Sara Duterte’s time in power is coming to an end. This impeachment represents the people’s verdict against the Dutertes’ long-standing corruption and lack of accountability. The message is clear: the era of impunity is closing, and those who exploit and oppress will face justice,” Cendaña stated.

He urged the Senate to follow through on the process.

“The Senate must meet this moment with the same resolve shown by the citizens and the House. The Filipino people are watching, and history will judge whether our senators uphold their constitutional duty or allow political convenience to obstruct justice,” he added.

Meanwhile, Akbayan First Nominee and lawyer Chel Diokno praised the impeachment effort, calling it a “testament to the power of active citizenship.”

“The Senate must not waver,” Diokno said. “Will they stand with the people or enable impunity? The nation deserves a Senate that will not back down.”

With only one-third of House members needed to advance the impeachment complaint, the lower chamber has officially selected its panel of prosecutors.

  • Rep. Marcelino Libanan
  • Rep. Arnan Panaligan

Following this development, the verified impeachment complaint is expected to be transmitted to the Senate. Once received, senators will convene as an Impeachment Court to conduct the trial.

Meanwhile, Vice President Sara Duterte’s office has yet to state the matter.
