A High-Speed Motorcycle Collision claimed the lives of two riders and left a backrider in critical condition after a head-on collision on Granada-Alangilan Road in Barangay Granada, Bacolod City, at around 7:15 p.m.
According to Bacolod Traffic Enforcement Unit Head Police Lt. Col. Ramil Sarona, the victims were identified as 28-year-old Helbert Lasquite, a resident of Purok A, Bantug, Barangay Alangilan, who was riding a red Rusi motorcycle, and two individuals on an unidentified black Rusi motorcycle, both residents of Himamaylan City but working at a chicken restaurant in Barangay Granada.
Investigation revealed that the black Rusi motorcycle, traveling from Alangilan to Granada, counterflowed and collided with the red Rusi motorcycle heading in the opposite direction.
Sarona noted that both motorcycles were speeding, resulting in severe damage to the vehicles and the victims being thrown off impact.
Emergency responders rushed the victims to a regional hospital, but both drivers were declared dead upon arrival, while the backrider remains in critical condition.
“The three victims sustained severe head and body injuries, especially since none of them were wearing helmets,” Sarona stated.
Authorities are still determining why the black Rusi motorcycle was counterflowing and whether alcohol consumption was involved.
