Several areas in the Philippines will experience moderate to heavy rainfall from Sunday to Monday, according to the state weather bureau.

The rains are caused by the convergence of the northeast monsoon and warm winds from the Pacific Ocean.

Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, Albay, Sorsogon, and Catanduanes are expected to receive intense rainfall, based on the 5 p.m. weather advisory.

The agency warned that moderate to heavy rains could lead to flooding, especially in low-lying and coastal areas.

The shear line and the northeast monsoon will continue to bring rains to parts of Luzon during the same period.

Meanwhile, generally fair weather with isolated rain showers is forecast in the Visayas and Mindanao.

Residents in affected areas are advised to stay updated on weather bulletins and prepare for potential flooding or landslides.
