Former Albay Gov. Noel Rosal Dismissed from Office by Ombudsman

The Office of the Ombudsman has confirmed that former Albay Governor Noel Rosal has been officially dismissed from his position.

According to the decision of the anti-graft body, there was substantial evidence supporting the charges of grave misconduct, oppression, and conduct prejudicial to the best interest of the service filed against him and his wife in 2022.

His wife is the incumbent Mayor of Legazpi City.

The case was related to the alleged unjustified reassignment of several department heads in the capitol under Rosal’s administration.

The Ombudsman stated that the move affected the operations and delivery of public services to the people of Albay.

Meanwhile, Mayor Geraldine Rosal has been suspended for one year by the Ombudsman.

This suspension was connected to her transfer of Legazpi City Engineer Clemente Ibo to a post in the provincial capitol.

In addition, former Governor Noel Rosal is permanently barred from holding any position in any government office.
