Five passengers, including two minors, remain hospitalized after a jeepney accident in Ampusa, Banangan, Sablan, Benguet, around 6:30 PM.

According to the Sablan Municipal Police Station, the passenger jeepney experienced a brake failure, prompting the driver to swerve into a roadside riprap to prevent a more severe crash, causing the vehicle to overturn.

The 33-year-old driver stated that he noticed no mechanical issues prior to the trip, but the brakes failed while navigating a curved section of the road.

To prevent the jeepney from falling into a deeper area, the driver intentionally steered it into the roadside embankment.

Among the five hospitalized passengers are two minors, who suffered fractures and dislocations requiring at least 30 days of medical attention.

Meanwhile, eleven other passengers were treated for minor injuries and have been discharged from the hospital.
