Fisherman Dies After Alleged Assault in Agoo, La Union

A fisherman was killed in Barangay San Isidro, Agoo, La Union following an alleged assault by the suspect.

The incident occurred on June 11, 2025.

The victim, a 46-year-old resident of the barangay, was married, while the suspect, identified by the alias “Lasak,” is a 35-year-old construction worker with a live-in partner.

According to an initial investigation by Agoo Police Station, the victim and the suspect’s partner had an argument.

During the confrontation, the suspect allegedly intervened and struck the victim, causing him to fall and hit his head on the concrete pavement.

Reports indicate that both the suspect and the victim were under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.

The victim was immediately transported to La Union Medical Center in Agoo and later transferred to Ilocos Training Regional Medical Center (ITRMC) in San Fernando City.

Despite medical efforts, the victim was declared dead.

The suspect is currently in police custody at Agoo Police Station for proper legal proceedings.
