Fatal Motorcycle Accident in Cagayan: Backrider Dies, Driver Injured

CAMALANIUGAN, Cagayan – A motorcycle accident in Camalaniugan, Cagayan, left a backrider dead and the driver injured.

Joshua Cristobal, an 18-year-old student, was declared dead on arrival at the hospital, while the driver, Norberto Cristo, also 18, was treated and later discharged.

Both victims were residents of Brgy San Mariano, Lal-lo.

According to PLT Mary Anne Unida, deputy chief of police in Camalaniugan, the accident occurred around 9:00 PM in Brgy. Sapping.

The motorcycle lost control while navigating a sharp curve, causing both riders to be thrown into a concrete canal. Cristobal, who was not wearing a helmet, sustained fatal head injuries.

Initial police investigation revealed that both victims were under the influence of alcohol.

They had attended a fraternity meeting in Maura, Aparri, followed by a drinking session before the incident.
