Former Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog revealed during a House Quad Committee hearing how the Duterte administration allegedly used the bloody anti-drug campaign not only to combat drugs but also as a smokescreen to target and eliminate political rivals.

Mabilog, whose name appeared on former President Rodrigo Duterte’s narco-list, accused the previous administration of weaponizing law enforcement agencies under former PNP Chief and current Senator Ronald Dela Rosa to serve political revenge.

Testifying before the Quad Committee, Mabilog strongly denied being a drug protector, adding that no case has been filed against him related to illegal drugs up to this day.

He further alleged that political adversaries were included in a “validated” list of drug personalities following the release of Duterte’s list, despite questionable information and lack of proper validation by any government agency.

Mabilog also pointed out that Duterte’s narco-list eventually became a “hit list.”

The former mayor revealed that Duterte repeatedly threatened him in media appearances, even stating publicly that Mabilog would be killed.
