Former Department of Health (DOH) Secretary Francisco Duque III has posted bail for graft charges filed against him.

According to the former health chief, he immediately posted bail on September 4 after learning about the case filed by the Office of the Ombudsman in the Sandiganbayan.

The case concerns the alleged illegal transfer of billions of pesos by the DOH to the Procurement Service of the Department of Budget and Management (PS-DBM) for the purchase of COVID-19 medical supplies during the height of the pandemic.

Duque added that he will seek legal remedies to challenge the Ombudsman’s resolution, not only in the Sandiganbayan but also in the Supreme Court.
