Elderly Resident Fatally Struck by Van

An elderly woman was killed after being struck by a passenger van in Sitio Paradahan, Barangay Pandanon, Murcia, Negros Occidental.

The victim was identified as 66-year-old Maria Jose Mae Guiguinto, a resident of the said area.

According to Police Major Sherwin Fernandez, chief of the Murcia Municipal Police Station, the victim suddenly crossed the road and was accidentally hit by a van carrying 17 passengers.

Fernandez clarified that the incident was not a hit-and-run, as the van’s driver immediately proceeded to the police station after the accident.

The van was reportedly traveling from San Carlos City en route to Bacolod City when the incident occurred.

The victim was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
