Senators JV Ejercito and Raffy Tulfo have declined the offer to lead the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee, which is currently investigating alleged corruption in flood control projects.

Their decision follows the resignation of Senate President Pro Tempore Ping Lacson, who stepped down due to frustrations and allegations raised by fellow senators regarding the direction of the committee’s probe.

Tulfo expressed gratitude for being considered but said he could not accept the role, citing his commitment to the three committees he currently chairs.

Ejercito, likewise, thanked his colleagues for their trust but opted out, saying other senators may be more qualified to lead the committee.

He personally informed Senate President Vicente Sotto III that it would be better to appoint another senator to the position.

Ejercito also expressed hope that Senator Lacson would reconsider his resignation, noting that the issues behind his decision had already been clarified.
