Duterte Ready to Return to House Hearing, Sets Conditions for Attendance

Former President Rodrigo Duterte expressed his willingness to attend another hearing of the House of Representatives’ Quad Committee if invited.

He stated that his attendance is conditional, requiring lawmakers to cover his transportation expenses to the House.

Duterte also believes that his daughter, Vice President Sara Duterte, will follow his example and attend the hearing regarding her questioned funds.

The next Quad Committee hearing on the war on drugs is scheduled for November 21.

Meanwhile, The former president mentioned that he has not received any communication from the International Criminal Court (ICC).

The ICC is conducting an investigation into the war on drugs under Duterte’s administration.

Duterte added that he has no interest in speaking with the ICC and is unsure if Senator Bong Go, his former close associate, has been contacted by the tribunal.

During the Quad Committee hearing, Duterte had expressed his willingness to face imprisonment by the ICC.

On the war on drug campaign, He revealed that not all the individuals killed by police during his presidency were resisting arrest, admitting that some did not fight back.

He reiterated his harsh stance against criminals, emphasizing that his anger toward all types of criminals was not a joke.

Duterte previously took full responsibility for the events related to the war on drugs during his term.

He declared his readiness to sign a waiver to reveal the contents of his bank accounts but demanded that all individuals he points out must also sign waivers.

Duterte admitted that those called to the hearing may feel persecuted, but he downplayed this, saying he is accustomed to such situations.

He explained that his behavior during the hearing, including the use of expletives, is typical of his personality and should be understood by lawmakers.

Several lawmakers had criticized Duterte for his excessive use of foul language and offensive remarks during the previous session.
