The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has assured the public that it will continue to protect individuals who are unable to defend themselves, particularly minors who are often victims of abuse, human trafficking, and sexual exploitation.
In light of the serious allegations against Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) founder Apollo Quiboloy, including human trafficking, sexual exploitation, and child abuse, the DSWD emphasized that it will not remain silent.
The agency stated that these cases are among their top priorities, as children and minors, who are often defenseless and incapable of protecting themselves, are frequently the victims.
The DSWD also affirmed its commitment to stand by the youth, mothers, and families who are undoubtedly suffering because of these cases.
It is worth recalling that the DSWD assisted the Philippine National Police (PNP) in rescuing two individuals who had reportedly been held within the KOJC compound for a long time and were not allowed to go home, despite their families’ concerns.
The agency added that it is also closely monitoring the ongoing confrontation between KOJC supporters and the PNP in Davao City.
