The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Region 2 conducted an inspection of prepositioned food and non-food items at its regional warehouse in Brgy. Ugac, Tuguegarao City.
Regional Director Lucia Alan told Bombo Radyo Cauayan that the agency has doubled its stockpile as part of ongoing preparations for the possible impact of Typhoon Uwan, which is expected to hit parts of Northern Luzon.
Officials checked the contents of Family Food Packs (FFPs), which include six kilos of rice, five sachets of chocomalt and instant coffee, four cans of corned beef, four cans of tuna, and two cans of sardines, to ensure each pack is complete and in good condition before distribution to affected families.
As of now, 147,515 FFPs are ready, while 17,447 non-food items such as hygiene kits, family clothing kits, sleeping kits, and kitchen kits have been prepositioned in agency warehouses.
DSWD Region 2 assured that coordination with local government units is ongoing to guarantee the swift delivery of aid should the need arise.
