Drunk SK Councilor Involved in Fatal Car Crash, Killing 3 and Critically Injuring 2

Three individuals were killed, two critically injured, and one sustained minor injuries in a crash involving three motorcycles and an SUV in Barangay Valladolid, Carcar City, on Sunday, October 20, 2024.

The victims were identified as Klaudet Powao Tobilla, 22, Ian Flores, 21, and Ronel Medina, 23, all of whom were declared dead on arrival at the hospital after being rescued from the scene.

Two other victims, Alison Jose Santos, 27, and Axel Dela Cerna, 18, were reported to be in critical condition.

Another injured individual was identified as Trisia Nicole Monter, 22.

The SUV driver was identified as Rob Joseph Orias, an SK councilor from Barangay Liburon, who was reported to be driving under the influence of alcohol but emerged unscathed from the accident.

According to the Carcar City police investigation, Monter had been assisting Flores and Santos, who were involved in an earlier accident on the same road.

While the six individuals, including the drivers and passengers of the three motorcycles, were resting on the roadside, Orias’ SUV crashed into them, resulting in fatalities and severe injuries.

Orias, who faced backlash on social media due to the incident, is currently in police custody.

The victims were transported by rescuers from the Carcar City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office to Cebu Provincial Hospital in Carcar.

In an exclusive interview with Bombo Radyo Cebu, Theresa Medina, the mother of one of the deceased victims, expressed her hope that the funeral expenses will be covered to bring peace to her late son.
