Drunk Farmer Stabs Three Police Officers in Agusan del Sur

Three police officers from Bunawan, Agusan del Sur were honored on May 29 by Police Regional Office-13 (PRO-13) Director PBGen Christopher Abrahano after being injured during a response to a violent incident involving a drunk farmer.

The officers, who belong to the Bunawan Municipal Police Station, were awarded the Medalya ng Sugatang Magiting and financial assistance during a hospital visit by PBGen Abrahano at the Valentina Galido Plaza Memorial Hospital.

The incident occurred when the officers responded to a report concerning a drunken individual in Sitio Guitas, Barangay Bunawan Brook in the municipality of Bunawan.

According to PMaj Jennifer Ometer, spokesperson for PRO-13, the suspect—identified only as alias Arman—immediately attacked the responding officers with a knife at his residence.

The victims were identified as PMSgt Frank Ayop Cercado, who was stabbed under his left armpit, and PCpl Rysan Dalayap, who sustained a stab wound on his left arm.

A third responding officer also suffered injuries to his left hand but, despite their wounds, the officers successfully apprehended the suspect.

The assailant now faces charges of direct assault upon persons in authority.
