The Department of Health (DOH) is set to release P328 million in funds to 22 tertiary hospitals across the country to cover patient medical expenses.
This initiative is part of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s “Handog ng Pangulo: Serbisyong Sapat para sa Lahat” program, which aims to ease the financial burden of patients undergoing treatment.
In a speech during the launch of the “Agri Puhunan at Pantawid Program” in Guimba, Nueva Ecija, President Marcos highlighted the government’s intention to shoulder the medical costs of patients confined and treated in public hospitals.
The “Handog ng Pangulo” program was launched on Friday, and it includes simultaneous distribution of aid and government services to all 82 provinces nationwide.
The program aims to empower Filipinos to improve their lives through various programs, training, and starter assistance, making government services more accessible and closer to the people.
The initiative also seeks to foster collective action towards a “Bagong Pilipinas.”
Among the government agencies involved in the service delivery are the Department of Agriculture (DA), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Department of Health (DOH), and Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), along with the participation of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).
