A disbarment complaint has been filed against former presidential spokesperson Atty. Harry Roque in connection with a controversial Facebook post allegedly linking President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to the so-called “polvoron video.”

The complaint was lodged by acting Cabinet Secretary Melvin Matibag before the Supreme Court.

Roque responded by dismissing the complaint as a mere “desperate act” by Matibag to gain public attention.

Roque also accused the House of Representatives Quad Committee of attempting to discredit him over the viral video.

Matibag, however, maintained that the video in question has been proven fake and stated that his action was not politically motivated nor personal.

He clarified that, as a friend of Roque, his intention is to help establish legal guidelines for lawyers on proper conduct in social media.

Matibag further emphasized that Roque, being an expert in law, should face the “maximum penalty,” which is why he sought the disbarment of the lawyer.
