The vehicles were traveling along the Davao-Bukidnon Road in opposite directions, with the pick-up coming from Bukidnon heading toward Davao City, while the truck was traveling from Davao to Bukidnon.

According to the truck driver, the accident occurred in a known accident-prone area when the truck lost its brakes, causing him to lose control.

The truck veered into the opposite lane, colliding head-on with the pick-up, causing both vehicles to crash off the road.

The pick-up passenger, Alag Kristopher Dasalla, was taken to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival, while his companion Lerry Dela Cruz remains under medical care.
