Deadly Ambush in Abra Leaves Two Dead, One Injured

A deadly ambush in Abra resulted in two fatalities and one injury after armed men attacked the group of former Mayor Artemio Donato in Sitio Palicad, Poblacion Pilar, Abra.

The victims were identified as Barangay Captain Froilan Bueno of Brgy. Quillat, Langiden, and Kevin Bueno, while the injured was identified as Sonny Bisares.

According to the Pilar Municipal Police Station, authorities received a report of gunfire and immediately responded to the scene, where they found a black Montero SUV parked by the roadside.

Police officers discovered the body of Bueno, who was driving the SUV, with a fatal gunshot wound to the head, while his two companions were rushed to the hospital. However, Kevin Bueno succumbed to his injuries, leaving only one survivor in critical condition.

Based on the investigation, the attack targeted a convoy of seven vehicles belonging to a mayoralty candidate traveling from Poblacion, Pilar, to Villaciosa, Abra.

The suspects opened fire on the convoy before fleeing the scene, prompting an ongoing police investigation.
