The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) has allocated nearly P1 trillion, or 15.4% of the proposed P6.352 trillion budget for 2025, to the education sector.
In a statement, Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman highlighted that this allocation reflects the continuing priority of the Marcos administration for education.
The education sector includes the Department of Education (DepEd), State Universities and Colleges (SUCs), the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).
Secretary Pangandaman noted that the proposed 2025 budget for the education sector stands at P977.6 billion, higher than the P968.9 billion allocated in 2024.
The budget will support DepEd’s MATATAG Agenda for Basic Education and other essential programs, such as the School-based Feeding Program.
