Couple Dies in High-Speed Crash While Delivering Supplies in Zamboanga

Tragedy struck Barangay Talisayan as a couple delivering cooking supplies lost their lives after their motorcycle was hit by a speeding car.

The accident occurred at around 2:30 PM on June 8, 2025, along San Ramon Highway.

The victims were identified as 41-year-old Daniel Maralpes and his wife, 40-year-old Robelyn Catalbas Albufera, residents of Zone 3, Barangay Maasin, Zamboanga City.

According to reports, the couple were vendors, with Robelyn also known by the nickname “Geng Geng.”

CCTV footage showed that a Changan sedan with plate number LAK 8953 was traveling along San Ramon Highway toward Labuan when it accidentally collided with the couple’s motorcycle, which had plate number JSQ 319 and was allegedly counterflowing in the opposite lane.

Due to the impact, the couple was thrown off their motorcycle.

Barangay official Señor Alexander Guerrero stated that the car was speeding, which led to the fatal crash.

The motorcycle was severely damaged, and both riders died instantly, with one suffering severed arms and hands.

The couple had just completed a delivery when they were suddenly struck by the vehicle.

Following the collision, the sedan crashed into the perimeter wall of San Ramon Penal Farm and caught fire.

Fortunately, the driver, 17-year-old student Franz Amir Maani Sahibula, a resident of Lustre Street, Sta. Catalina, Zamboanga City, was pulled out of the burning vehicle and rushed to Zamboanga City Medical Center (ZCMC) by the Talisayan Rescue Unit for treatment.

Meanwhile, the remains of the couple were taken to La Merced Funeral Homes for proper disposition.
