Construction Worker Shot Dead in Davao Del Sur

DAVAO REGION – A construction worker was fatally shot by an unidentified suspect last night. The victim, identified as Welbert Ceneza Quiño, 35, married, and a resident of Purok 3, Balutakay, Hagonoy, Davao Del Sur, succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds.

According to police reports, the shooting occurred around 10:35 PM at a store located on Davao-Bukidnon Road in San Miguel Parish, Sitio Upper Marahan, Brgy. Marilog, Davao City.

The suspect is described as riding a motorcycle and wearing a black and white t-shirt and black shorts.

Investigators revealed that while Quiño was seated inside the store, an unidentified assailant approached from behind and shot him multiple times.

Despite his attempts to flee, the victim sustained numerous wounds that led to his immediate death.

Following the incident, the suspect fled the scene on his motorcycle in an unknown direction.

Emergency responders from the 911 ambulance arrived promptly but reported that the victim showed no signs of life.

Authorities conducted an ocular investigation and recovered three .45 caliber shell casings and a wallet containing various identification cards from the crime scene, which are now in police custody.

The victim’s body has been taken to Angel Funeral Calinan for the required autopsy. Meanwhile, authorities are conducting a hot pursuit operation to apprehend the suspect.
