The Commission on Human Rights-National Capital Region (CHR-NCR) has launched an investigation into the death of a 15-year-old boy in Manila.
The victim reportedly died after being beaten by SK Kagawad Mark Jhorell Dela Cruz, 18, and his companion, Irineo Cardanio, 23.
Manila police have taken both suspects into custody following the incident in Punta Sta. Ana.
The incident occurred around 9:10 PM on F. Manalo Street in Barangay 894, where the victim and friends were taking photos in a park.
The suspects allegedly approached and confronted the group for unclear reasons, leading to a violent altercation.
The victim collapsed on the pavement and was rushed to Sta. Ana Hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.
Medical reports indicate that a “traumatic head injury” caused the victim’s death.
The suspects now face murder charges filed with the Manila City Prosecutor’s Office.
The CHR has urged local authorities and the Philippine National Police (PNP) to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation.
