A distinguished professor of international relations has claimed that some Filipino vloggers are allegedly involved in Chinese cognitive warfare, a strategy aimed at spreading disinformation.

According to Dr. Renato De Castro, some online content creators have been found to have links with China and are being used as part of the country’s “cognitive warfare” strategy.

He explained that the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) orchestrates this campaign to manipulate and redirect public perception, particularly among Filipinos.

“These pro-China vloggers can be considered among those who aim to destabilize the Philippine government,” De Castro stated.

The expert further elaborated that this form of information warfare is deeply embedded in China’s military doctrine and has been utilized as a key strategic tool.

Dr. De Castro added that even artificial intelligence (AI) is being integrated into cognitive warfare to advance China’s objectives.

“Talagang nasa doktrina ng People’s Liberation Army, una yan yung tinatawag na information warfare, atakihin mo yung mind tapos yung tinatawag nila ngayon na intelligetalize, intelligent. Gumagamit ka ng Ai and even bio-physics, bio-chemistry in mind,” (This is truly part of the People’s Liberation Army doctrine. First, there’s what they call information warfare—attacking the mind—and now, they are using intelligence, AI, and even biophysics and biochemistry in mind warfare.) said Dr. Renato De Castro
