The child of the principal suspect in the kidnapping of American national Elliot Onil Eastman in Sibuco, Zamboanga del Norte, has provided significant information to the Philippine National Police (PNP).
According to PNP spokesperson Brig. Gen. Jean Fajardo, the information includes details about the abduction, beginning with Eastman’s capture from his in-laws’ home in Barangay Poblacion to his transfer onto a motorized boat.
These details are currently undergoing verification by both the PNP and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).
The suspect’s child disclosed that the boat used to transport Eastman was repainted to avoid detection.
It remains unclear whether Eastman, who was kidnapped on October 17, is still alive.
While ransom is a suspected motive, authorities are exploring additional potential motives behind the abduction.
Kidnapping and serious illegal detention complaints have already been filed against six suspects, with three in police custody while the principal suspect remains at large.
Eastman, a vlogger married to a Filipina, had been residing in Sibuco for five months prior to the incident.
The U.S. Embassy is actively working with local authorities in the search for Eastman, following reports that he was possibly shot before being taken by armed men.
