Authorities are investigating the fatal shooting of a businessman in Koronadal City.
Police Captain Ralph Marvin Rivera, spokesperson of the Koronadal City PNP, identified the victim as Nor-en Sandigan, 37, a father of two from Buluan, Maguindanao del Sur, who was temporarily staying at his sibling’s home in Purok Maharlika, Barangay GPS, Koronadal City.
In an interview with Bombo Radyo, the victim’s sister, Naima Sandigan, recounted that while she was resting with her child, Nor-en was manning their store when a man arrived, pretending to buy cigarettes.
As Nor-en reached for the pack of cigarettes, the suspect fired three shots, hitting him in various parts of his body.
The victim died on the spot, and his sister was unable to rush him to the hospital.
Naima said she witnessed the shooting and was able to recognize the gunman.
The suspect immediately fled on a waiting motorcycle after carrying out the crime.
The motive behind the attack remains unclear as the victim had not received any prior threats.
Police are now gathering strong evidence, including CCTV footage, to identify the suspects.
The victim’s family is calling for the immediate arrest of the perpetrators to ensure justice.
Meanwhile, the Koronadal City PNP assured that they are tightening security at checkpoints to prevent similar incidents.
Earlier, Koronadal City PNP Chief PLt.Col. Hoover Antonio urged residents to cooperate with authorities to prevent violent crimes like this shooting.
