Benguet Shivers as Temperatures Drop to 12.7°C

The state weather bureau again recorded low temperatures in several areas of the Cordillera Administrative Region this week.

Along with the prevalence of the Northeast Monsoon (Amihan), the agency recorded temperatures below 15°C in several areas of Benguet for almost the entire week.

Based on the monitoring of the agency’s Agromet Station based at Benguet State University yesterday, December 20, La Trinidad recorded a temperature of up to 14.1°C.

In Baguio City, the lowest temperature recorded yesterday was 14.4°C.

Tuba, Benguet, remains the area with the coldest temperature amid the prevalence of the Amihan, reaching 12.7°C.

The temperature in these areas is expected to drop further as the effect of the Amihan strengthens.

The lowest temperature could reach 10°C at the height of the weather system, according to the weather agency’s forecast.

Based on records, the lowest temperature experienced in the mountains of Cordillera during the Amihan season was 6.3°C.
